Yes people of South East England. The sobbing, wailing and remonstrations you can hear so clearly are from my 4 year old but nearly 5 year old boy. He’s got an ear infection and doesn’t like the cold drops in his ear. So I’m having to calm him down, and hold him in place – lovingly, with renditions of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. It’s Our Family Song – sung in times of happiness, sadness and when there’s nothing else we as parents can do to make something better.
I’ve sung it in John Lewis, at the swimming pool, in the car and anywhere and everywhere that there’s been a bump, scratch, inadvertent or intended wounding of a member of Team Weston. So this blog post is dedicated to families everywhere, who have a song, theme tune or something that they do as an intervention to appease and make the world a better place for themselves, their family and the world at large.
What’s your Family Song?
