This morning, even though it’s a school day, they are up before 7am. Lovely Bloke is having a turn at a lie in as I get the majority of them. That’s a relative phrase of course, because he’s still going to be up and running for 8.45am when he’s taking them to school and pre school. At this point, E is 4 years and 9 months and W is 3 years 5 months. I really want to remember this morning. We came down the stairs and E now knows how to turn a light on, at the switch, unprompted. It’s a small thing, but I’ve noticed it. He also wants to know how to do the buttons for the TV and DVD player to make “Maters Tall Toons” work.
W has started to appreciate the benefits of having an older brother and sits nicely, waiting for E to make it work for their mutual benefit. Then W reminds me that it’s time for hot chocolate. As I stand up to shut the door, so Lovely Bloke doesn’t hear Mater for the umpteenth time, W says “No Mummy, you’re going the wrong way, the other way” in an exasperated tone. Really? You’re 3. And now you are prioritising what I’m doing and telling me how to do it.
It’s cute. It’s lovely and I hope I remember these things in the future….
