So tonight, we’re having one of E and W’s friends for a sleepover and it’s a girl !!!! A girl !!!! I have always said how pleased I am to have two boys and that I can relate to them really well and couldn’t imagine being a mum of a girl. (Unless it’s my friend AKT’s youngest, because she’s the coolest girl I’ve ever come across. Anyway, I digress.) You should have seen me tonight – the look of confusion was obvious to all three of them – I’m stood there tonight, with this 4 year old little girl with gorgeous long blond hair and I realised I didn’t know what to do !!!
E was much better than me. And he’s only 5 years old. He has spent his night brushing her hair but it had lots of knots in it and I didn’t want to hurt her, so I’m there, fiddling, trying to get her hair better. And failing. So in the end I did my best until she told me I was hurting her. When I stopped. And plaited, after a fashion, her hair. Is that what I’m supposed to do for her? And what do I do in the morning? Do I brush her hair until it’s free from knots? I’ll have to get her up at 3am to do that!!!
So, this one night has already taught me something. That I’m not destined to be a mum of a girl. Or at least, a girl with long hair !!!
On a more practical note, do I brush her hair until there’s no knots at all in the morning? HELP !!!!
