#FordAtCarFest aka Me, Getting My Happy On….

14th July 2015 CambridgeMummy Leave a Comment

I should be more embarrassed to admit this, but when Ford asked me if we wanted to go to CarFest North, I replied with a yes, yes and more of yes with indecent haste. Why? Because I love cars – watching them race, seeing the tyres and how they are developed and ahem, there’s the small fact that TEXAS are playing on the Saturday night.

I don’t think I blogged it, but a few years ago, we went to CarFest and William wasn’t quite old enough for it. He stropped the whole day and then, had an absolute meltdown before the stage had even gotten going. I actually cried all the way home – I cried as we walked out, I cried in the car and I cried when we got home. That was how much I’d wanted to see them – I’d not seen them in concert before – the band that had been the soundtrack to my first years as an independent driver – “I don’t want a lover” was played every single morning, as I drove me and four friends to Sixth Form each day.

To get the chance to go again and do the journey from Cambridge in a brand new, all singing all dancing Mondeo (ours has seen better days) is very exciting. We’re also going to try out the CMax whilst we are there for the weekend as well – because we are looking for a new car and can’t decide whether to stick with a 5 seater or 7. The CMax will give us chance to see if a 7 seater feels too big. Actually I’ll write a proper post on that dilemma separately. And I hope we’ll get to try out the Eco Sport which is not quite a 4 x 4 but has lots of space and I think, is a hybrid as well. How cool is that!!!

I’m planning it already: we’re going to go to CarFest North, I’m going to buy the boys all the ice creams they can eat and save the two ipads for the evening – and I am going to sit there, come rain or shine, and watch TEXAS in concert. I’m going to be sober, but sing as loudly as I would if I’d had several bottles of pink and fizzy stuff. I’m going to love it. And hopefully, I’ll instill a similar love of cars, independence and music to our boys, as I have in my life myself. I think that the # is #FordatCarFest and that other families are going as well, so I look forward to seeing who they are!

So, that’s my upcoming stuff. What’s on your horizon?

Car stuff, Cars, Home life
