We are on a mission to have less ‘stuff’ in our office. We really are. With us having taken on a new challenge with Hope House Press, we’re now sinking in materials and kit in the office. We’ve used up more than our quota of Ikea storage and are now looking to how we store our stock. We love where we are, but we just need more space.
I also want to be able to still be near the boys, so I’m thinking of ways to use the free space we have, with something like mezzanine levels because when it comes to storage there’s nothing like warehouse storage solutions – in fact, Mezzanine floors can be a perfect solution for pretty much every business and can be one of the most effective ways to increase, or even double, your available floor space.
When more space is required for hand picking of items, installing a mezzanine can be the preferred option. Different companies provide mezzanine flooring service such as Warehouse Storage Solutions offers mezzanine floor service. Offering the ultimate in working flexibility, mezzanines are just as useful for office space as they are for conventional storage facilities. Indeed, they can almost double the amount of room you have to operate in, if designed professionally.”
That way, we’ll be able to do something where we can all still hear each other but not be necessarily next to each other. I also want to ensure that as we expand the studio, we’ll have space to look at going vertically, as well as horizontally.
Even if it’s just to add storage space, and not necessarily a whole new level. It drives me nuts that we have our loft and don’t use it like we could. As an aside, I love the idea of adding a mezzanine to our bedroom to add in a bathroom – open plan, looking out over the fields could be great.
I think it’s a good thing to not expect to do the usual thing when looking at storage solutions. I love the Ikea hacks to take a regular desk into a stand up desk. Have you seen what the founder of Hootsuite came up with to his desk one he could stand up at? Ryan Holmes had back pain and came up with Oristand – I love it. Especially as it’s so cheap and something that you can try to see how it works for you without forking out on a 2K desk.
So, that’s my rambling thoughts on looking at how warehouses use space to make their storage work for them and how I am looking at doing my extensions in our own office. Onwards and upwards !!!
