So, I’m officially putting Jen Stanbrook on notice and giving Goddess Whittle notice that she may as well give up on her HIBS100 rankings right now, because I am moving into the world of interiors and frankly, they’ll need to start a whole new category for how awesome I’m going to be at it.
If you’d not twigged, we’re on the move so I am going to be doing up and decorating and getting my Laurence Llewlyn-Bowen on, in the new year.
We’ve had an offer on our house. We’ve accepted it.
We’ve offered on another house. They’ve accepted it.
We’re now in a merry circle of paperwork. It’s never ending. Remember that I’ve never actually bought a house before, so to me, this is all a new experience. Lovely Bloke says we are to hunker down and just do everything as soon as it comes to us, to keep things moving. We want to be exchanged before Christmas. That way, we can start carpet hunting in the new year sales.
But what else do we need to know? What do we need to be thinking of, planning for, making decisions on?
Should we be aiming to sleep on air beds for the first couple of nights?
What time will we actually be able to move?
How do I come up with a plan for how to decorate a whole house? When we won’t have the money to do it all in one go and have people come in to do it all for us? I am loving grey. I really am. But will it turn out to be the equivalent of the dado rail in a decade’s time????
We have some great pieces of ercol that I want to be feature points in our lounges. We’re going to have a lot more space so I need to decide how to show things off without being left feeling like we’re in rooms without enough furniture. I don’t want to go full scandi. But I do love it.
It’s weird because the dining room feels like it will be a long way from the kitchen in the new house. Right now, it’s attached to the kitchen. So I want us to have a small table in the kitchen but I don’t know what size to go for.
I suppose there’s lots to think about and I don’t need to have it all sorted before we move. But me being me, I’d quite like to.
