How long is it since I last wrote? Months and months and months. Sorry about that. This little thing called Hope House Press has consumed every fibre of my being. I really do know what people say when they talk about their business feeling like an extra child. We’re coming up on Christmas which is the time when we will do the majority of our sales for the entire year. No pressure there then. So of course it’s only right that I decided to hop on a jet plane to sunny, or not so sunny Copenhagen on Monday. I have no idea why Jayne and I are going to Copenhagen. Well I do, it’s because the flights were 9.99 each way. And I found a youth hostel, dorm esque place to stay that is suspiciously cheap.
Being a middle age Mum, I’ve got the number of the Manager at our local Hilton hotel on speed dial, should we find ourselves stuck. He’ll be able to get us a room at their place at the airport, won’t he? Even though it says they are full on the nights we are there? It’s all going to be just fine. Repeat that after me please. Just fine.
What will we do whilst we are there? I really do not know. We are looking at going to a museum, something modern art, some shopping and wandering, and a fair bit of drinking and eating. There’s a place that has its own rules and laws, which has a distinct smell about it that will remind me of my University days. [All Hail The Blessed Manchester]. There’s also some cool craft and design stuff there as well. Apparently. I’ll do my best to report back on that shortly.
In other news, I’ve received a very lovely set of Liz Earle travel sized products to use whilst away. Jayne isn’t too sure what to think of my texting “YAY! We can massage each other’s feet with the foot scrub I just received”. She was polite enough, but I could hear her getting increasingly nervous as we texted ;))
I could pretend that I don’t know why I wanted to go away. That it’s a whim. But it’s not. I want some time out. I want a bit of an adventure. I want to do something different. I don’t know what else to write. I know it’s expensive for beer. Jayne has suggested we buy a bottle of tequila in duty free on the way out, so that we can drink before we go out. No really, she did. I see Lambrini making a retro inspired return to my horizon at this rate. I don’t think she realises that I’m going to be asleep after sniffing at the bottle. That I’m in favour of afternoon siestas. We’ve joked about extra hair ties in case some of us << me >> needs their hair tying back should there be overindulgence.
If my Husband was writing about this kind of thing, I’d not be impressed. I’d think he was out of his mind. Having a mid life crisis. Perhaps I am. At least I’m doing it in a middle class, middle aged way. With a Mum bag strapped around my chest diagonally, Liz Earle in my luggage and painkillers packed in multiples.
See you on the other side…..
