Aarrrggghhh, I am so overdue to be writing about this. But every time I have sat down with my laptop, I’ve had the nearly 8 year old hovering nearby, hoping to be able to play Lego Chima on it. Which is frustrating, seeing as I’m wanting to write about his Christmas present!! Although to be fair, I’ve told everyone I know about them, because I’m so excited to see their reactions…
They are both having a microscooter for Christmas – one with two wheels – a real progression point – because they have had three wheel scooters for years. And they are having a really cool helmet for each of them as well. I’ve been a fan of the boys using scooters for years. In case you’ve not heard me rave about them in person, here’s some of the reasons why I love scooters:
– They are great for developing co ordination.
– They are light and transportable
– They can be used in the back garden, on the patio. (We have a huge garden, but it’s
grass so the bikes don’t see enough action)
– They can make stunt stuff – things to jump on and off in the garden.
– They’re great for making them active!
– They are good to play on and with whatever the weather. (Less slipping when it’s wet, than with the skateboards).
– The helmets are cool, so there won’t be any complaints about wearing them.
– Good scooters last for years – we don’t seem to grow out of them as quickly as other
toys and sports kit!
This is the scooter that our Big Bear will be having, with a red helmet.
And Smaller Bear will be getting a blue scooter, with a blue helmet.
So, all in all, it’s looking like whatever the weather, we’ll be spending Christmas afternoon on the patio, drinking hot chocolate, making ramps and follow youtube instructions on how to do stunts!
What are your little people having for Christmas? And more to the point – what are you having? (Lovely Bloke and I are gifting each other Neil Diamond tickets and smellies – cliched, but an element of practicality and making memories together. Love it)
PS. For the file, we’ve been sent these scooters to review. But you’ll note that we’ve not actually actively reviewed them yet. Well, not fully, because they are a surprise. But we did take the boys to try them out – via some clients – Fundamentally Children and John Lewis. The boys loved them and thought they were uber cool, so it was great to be able to receive them direct from Micro and put them on the blog as a way to inspire other people at the same time!
PPS. You know what they wanted to do with all the packaging? Make a tipi, but more specifically, make a yarn tipi – I know – they’d seen it in a programme on the tv over Christmas, so after all the toys, we bought some wool and cracked on with it!
