7 seats? or big family truck?

15th November 2015 CambridgeMummy Leave a Comment

I know, I’ve struck again – Liz three post in one weekend Weston !!!!

I’m stuck. Help me. We aren’t in a position to buy new, but instead, will be buying a ‘new to us’ car soon. And I am so confused as to what to go for. We’ve got an amount in our head, that we can commit to. I know that of the two options we’re thinking of, we’ll get either an older car or one with more mileage on it, because it was more expensive to start with. Putting that to one side, we’ve tested several Ford cars in the last few months, so I’m showing my thoughts using them as samples…

I don’t think that there’s much point in going for the C Max that’s a five seater. If we do that, we may as well go for the C Max Grand and have the seven seats. I know it doesn’t have the aesthetics of a sports car but it’s not a sports car, so you have to get over that kind of thing. Once we were in it, we freaking loved it – it was so big inside and so practical and useful. We loved it. I really rate the sliding doors – they are perfect for compensating for our family’s lack of spatial awareness: I panic every time they open or close the doors on our cars at the moment – they’re so preoccupied with talking about football, who was ‘it’ at school or their myraid of reasons why they didn’t bring their homework home. And I’d definitely want the panoramic roof though, to give the feeling of as much space as possible. I’ve just re read that last sentence and I know it doesn’t make sense: I mean that although there’s lots of space, I don’t want to feel like I’m driving a minibus, so the panoramic roof will really help with that.

images (1)Or we could go for something that is just big all over. Lovely Bloke likes the Edge – it looks and feels like a 4 x 4, when it’s actually a two wheel drive.

Screen Shot 2015-11-15 at 19.23.03The Edge is a five seater car, but feels like it would give us lots of space and be a car that asthetically, we’re more likely to love. Is it really shallow of us to want a car that we love the look of? Both tick the boxes of having us all higher up, come with the bluetooth and hands free kit we want, have the option of the panoramic roof and parking sensors and kit.

When I think about it, we don’t need seven seats every week, but I can see a time where we’re doing a lot more of Mum’s taxi service activities. So perhaps we should go for seven seats because it’s covering us for all eventualities. But then, the five seats brings a chunky car that we’ll love more and will be uber comfortable for the longer haul drives.

What do you think? What would you go for?

PS. If like me, you’re into cars, tyres and motoring, have a look at my other posts. And remember that I regularly instagram cars and their lovely features as well!!
