You know that book, that you really want to buy friends when they have a new baby? Go the *&^% to sleep? That’s what I need. Every night in our house.
I get so worked up from doing the going to sleep stuff for the boys that I just cannot do it for myself when it’s my turn – so I listen to rain music on Spotify. The only problem with that is that I’m not about to leave tech available for the boys to use in their rooms. So when the opportunity came to try a Slumberland CD I was rather pleased. Until I realised I needed something to play it on – and that would be a macbook, with the CD extension, in their rooms. That’s a no go. So instead, we have taken to having it on for wind down and quiet reading time, downstairs, with us all reading together, tv off and just calming down. I have to say, I rather like it for myself, so I want it come onto Spotify then I can listen to it as I go to sleep!
I think it’s really useful to me, to find a way to weave it into our routine. Anything that helps us evolve it and frankly, make it work for us all, can only be a good thing.
I know this is a brief review, but I’m going to write more about it in a couple of weeks, over Christmas, because I know it’s going to really come into its own then, to help me when things have been manic – it’s already grounding us and signalling to all of us, Pavlov’s dog style, that we need to move to another phase of our day.
